I'd like to try again. I am woefully behind on reading due to master bath remodeling and softball tournaments. Now that summer reading lists are appearing I'll have even more on my TBR list.

Friday morning posting:
Books Read From: I persevere with Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman. I only have another 200 pages to read in this book. I finished Sisters of the Resistance by Christine Wells this week and started reading Tilted World by Tom Franklin. I have placed Monster of Men on the back burner because I am listening to Thunderstruck by Eric Larson instead. I got Thunderstruck through ILL and have a short time to get it listened to so am devoting all my driving time and kitchen time to it. I started reading Nine Pints: A Journey Through the Money, Medicine, and Mysteries of Blood by Rose George for the LT Nonfiction Challenge. This month the category is books about Science and Medicine.

Books finished in this week's Readathon: Sisters of the Resistance by Christine Wells

Book Thoughts: I hope to have some pool time over the weekend so that I will get lots of reading done. I am also planning on doing some cooking so will have time to listen to books while working in the kitchen. I didn't sleep well last night and so woke up and read for a 1/2 hour. I don't like it when that happens. I like the reading time, but not the interrupted sleep.

Time posting:
Food:
Nonbook activities: I work today and am looking forward to the long weekend. I hope to get some travel plans firmed up this weekend as well.

Sunday evening posting:
Books Read From: Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman. I did not read from Tilted World by Tom Franklin today. I read a good amount in Nine Pints: A Journey Through Money, Medicine, and Mysteries of Blood by Rose George for the LT June challenge of books about science and medicine. I started and finished reading Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire. I am listening toThunderstruck by Eric Larson and am making less progress on it than I would like because I am driving around less.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: Sisters of the Resistance by Christine Wells. Nevertheless She Wore It: 50 Iconic Fashion Moments by Ann Shen. Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire.

Book Thoughts: I read about 30 pages in Nine Pints while eating my lunch and in the two hours I was at the swimming pool (it was a bit chilly out there because we have a northwest breeze blowing tonight that will make for great cookout weather but wasn't so nice for swimming or poolside laziness) I was able to finish reading Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan Mcguire. This is book 7 in this novella series of twisted or fractured fairy tales. It was a fun afternoon's read.
Time reading: 3 hours
Time posting:
Food: Indian food for lunch and will have a sandwich for supper.
Nonbook activities: I spent time on the phone today and got the dressing made for my potato salad. I will cook the potatoes tonight and get the salad in the refrigerator. This will give the potatoes time to soak up the dressing and give it all time to blend so it tastes good. I added too much salt to the dressing but once the potatoes are in they will mitigate the saltiness. Should be a good addition to tomorrow's cookout lunch.

Monday evening posting:
Books Read From: A few pages from Unwarranted: Policing Without Permission by Barry Friedman. A few page from Tilted World by Tom Franklin. I read a good amount in Nine Pints: A Journey Through Money, Medicine, and Mysteries of Blood by Rose George for the LT June challenge of books about science and medicine. I started Paper Bark Tree Mystery by Ovidia Yu. I am listening to Thunderstruck by Eric Larson since I didn't go anywhere this weekend I and am making less progress on it than I would like.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: Sisters of the Resistance by Christine Wells. Nevertheless She Wore It: 50 Iconic Fashion Moments by Ann Shen. Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire.

Book Thoughts: I started Paper Bark Tree Mystery today because I wanted something to read that was entertaining and didn't tax me too much. So I had the third book in this mystery series here at home and I read 150 pages in it so far today. I like this series set in 1930's Singapore. It an interesting setting and some great characters. It is now 1938 and rebellion has started in India. The British Colonial authorities are afraid that this rebellion will spread and so are actively trying to nip it in the bud in Singapore. I need to read Tilted World for a real life book discussion and I am having a hard time getting into this book. It juts doesn't interest me and 150 pages into the book and it still doesn't interest me. I want to read it because Tom Franklin is a well liked Southern author but this book is just not catching my interest. I hate it when that happens.
Time reading: 4 hours
Time posting:
Food: Lunch with friends and a quiet afternoon setting around reading by their pool.
Nonbook activities: I went to my weekly yoga class and am now waiting for the Julia Child movie to start on CNN. I love some of the programs they are doing. Stanley Tucci's program on the food of Italy. Nomad with the wine sommelier Carlton McCoy, and now they are doing this movie of Julia Child. I have to watch it since I have read her autobiography and the biography of her that came out a few years ago. And that will be my evening.
