I read this story about 60 years ago. I think that it was from the late 50's or early 60's.
A spaceship crashes into a farmer's field. The farmer helps the alien repair his ship in the barn. The alien makes diamonds for the farmer to buy materials. The government wants to arrest the farmer for tax evasion. The farmer gets in the spaceship and goes with the alien to his world. The spaceship has self-sealing material on the interior surfaces. The farmer gets to the alien world and does on-line shopping. He is unable to pay for the goods. He sells music that he remembers from Earth. This goes well until the authorities discover that the music is not his original work. They exile him to a prison moon where it is "fend for yourself". People are naked and living in caves. Women are hunted and raped. In the end, he manages to place a message in a rocket and send it to Earth telling his story.
