Game : degrees of separation

Apologies if there is already an established thread along these lines.

I keep a weather eye on deaths and obituaries in the Guardian, and they often result in bouts of filling in LT CK. Bruce Kent's recent death triggered one such bout, including discovering/creating a chain of five LT authors:

Valerie Flessati (alive)
> Bruce Kent (1929-2022), her husband
> Joe Alwyn (b. 1991), his nephew
> William Alwyn (1905-1985), his great-grandfather
> Doreen Carwithen (1922-2003), his secretary, amanuensis and second wife.

A chain of six, off the top of my head:

John Ruskin (1819-1900)
> William Gershom Collingwood (1854-1932), his personal secretary
> Robin George Collingwood (1889–1943), his son
> Arthur Ransome (1884-1967), his friend
> Joyce Lupton (1892–1970), his sister
> Arthur Ralph Ransome Lupton (1924–2009), her son

I'm sure others can do better. Charles Darwin strikes as an obvious candidate. Initial rules:
(i) Each link must be an LT author (as including musicians, actors, illustrators, directors etc.)
(ii) No unnecessary padding (if you were going from Charlotte to Emma Brontë, there's no need to go through Anne and Branwell).
(iii) No royalty (too easy, unless perhaps they are the honest-to-goodness authors of the words, e.g. Queen Victoria's highland journals).
