Found: YA Fiction - teens with symbol on head and superpowers

A YA Fiction series. I think there were at least 3 books. I read these books in 2016 or 2017.
Plot:
A male teen in modern times notices that there is a place on his head where hair doesn't grow forming a symbol (I think the symbol was a V but I'm not sure). Before the book started this guys mom died. Shortly after he is kidnapped to an island where there are 3 other teens that have the same symbol. Each has a superpower. The girl is good with computers, one of the other guys is super athletic, and the last one has a really good memory. The main character can't figure out what his power is. The people who kidnapped him explain that they need to treat him to keep him from dying but they won't explain the procedure.
Fast forward to one of the later books and they discover the main characters mom is actually still alive and part of a rival organization also researching the symbols and superpowers. The athletic guy betrays the rest and joins the opposing organization.

This is almost definitely the Seven Wonders series. The first book is The Colossus Rises. All of the elements you mentioned are there.
