I read a book in 2018 from my school's library. I can't remember much about it, so my information might be wrong. I believe the main girl was a noble either a lady, a duchess, or something like that and I think she was going to be married to a count (?) who wasn't a good man. I'm not sure if she ran away or was kidnapped but I think she was at another noble's home and there were secret passageways and I think the main guy/her love interest was there as a worker maybe? I can't really remember anything that happened throughout the book besides someone (maybe the love interest) visiting another Lady who I think was the main girl's aunt/related someway. The Lady/aunt was also trying to help them escape from the city or something like that. Then towards the end, the main girl is taken by the count and something happens to the carriage they were in.

What genre would you say the book was; romance/ historical fiction/ fantasy?

Any chance the school library would have a record of what you borrowed? Let us know what it was, if you find it.

>2 humouress: I found it! After many, many years searching (and unfortunately the school library wasn’t able to help). My description was a little off haha but over time I remembered more details. The book is The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner! :) It’s an excellent book that pretty much felt like I was reading a whole new one after so long.

touchstone: the red necklace

>4 vorkosigan: Thank you! I am quite thrilled and glad I never gave up hope.

Also, I edited my first post because I don’t want anyone to get the wrong impression of the book (as I had the wrong details) but the main paragraph I wrote is the exact same! If you like historical YA romance, I hope you check it out and enjoy it too :)

>3 Samaraa.: Oh well done! I’m glad you found it. I had a look at the book via your touchstone and it looks like there’s a sequel too.
