I've been looking for a specific book for years and I'd love some help. Some info I can remember:
Genre: Fantasy. Possibly YA before YA was a big thing.
I read this book about 20 years ago (I feel so old saying that, lol).
Plot:
I remember the beginning of the book was a boy who was afraid of his sister's snakes. Not huge ones, but smaller snakes I think. He ends up in another world and somehow befriends or connects with an extremely poisonous snake (possibly one of his sister's he brought with him?). He finds a girl about his age (early to mid-teens I think). Que adventure. I think they saved the fantasy world or something.
If I remember correctly, there was, at best, a minor love situation between the boy and girl. The biggest thing was he'd really connected to the snake who'd been with him through the whole adventure. He was heartbroken about leaving the snake behind.
Then he comes back and the snake is still in his clothes and he still has her (I feel like the snake was a girl, but could be projecting because I read it forever ago as a teen girl, lol).
Thanks for any help you can give me!
