I read this fiction mystery/thriller/diary book around 2017 or 2018 when I was in middle school, the cover was great with simple black text for the title, the book was written in a diary type format.
It was about a boy around fifteen maybe sixteen or older but no older than twenty maybe, he was putting something in his trunk and helped this old looking man with his grocery’s or something that went in the back of a van, and the man put him to sleep and kept him in an underground apartment type building with cameras all over for the man to watch him.
There was an elevator that the man would send food and other supplies down through and as time went by more people arrived, knocked out on the elevator.
One day it’s shown that the man is arrested for something and nobody knows about the people in there and so they start dying from starvation or dehydration, one guy is so thirsty he drinks bleach and kills himself. Eventually the narrator dies and the books ends with his last words.
