I'm in! I'm having my covid booster and my flu shot tomorrow, so lying around with a book may be all I'm up to for much of the weekend.

Sunday afternoon update
Books read from: Ravening of Wolves by Rob Howell. Battlefield: Farming a Civil War Battleground by Peter Svenson. Delta Wedding by Eudora Welty for a LT group read. I am listening to Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: Ravening of Wolves by Rob Howell

Book Thoughts: I finished reading all 5 books for the Kansas Authors Club contest on Wednesday, but the week was so busy I barely got the results turned in on time. I hope that next week slows down enough that I can really do some reading. I started Delta Wedding but haven't read much in it this week. I think everyone else is done reading it and I have read 10 pages!
Time reading: 1 hours.
Time posting:
Food: My regular Sunday morning Starbucks coffee and my regular lunch at the neighborhood Indian place.
Nonbook activities: I am watching the news and am becoming a CNN junkie. I wish it was just non-stop about the funeral. I find myself wondering about little things. Like how long do soldiers stand at the vigil. Why are some of them there with upraised swords and others with the swords pointing down and hands crossed over the hilts? What are those funky dress uniforms? and what regiments, battalions, etc. are they from? All that protocol stuff fascinates me. Maybe it is the reason why I like the Tea Ceremonies so much.

Today I went to church, watched some of the coverage of preparations for the queen's funeral, read, cooked soup, attended Zoom church, watered flowers, read more.

read-a-thon report:

Books read from: 3 The Poisonwood Bible, The Thief, and Fantastic Cat

Books Finished: 1-Poisonwood, It took me an hour to compile a review, to process the book in my own mind, then I could not figure out the spoiler tags, so I wound up editing it heavily after trying to post it. The book started out good, but ended up pretty bad and too long, in a nutshell. (Review written and posted on LT and on my thread Kaida's Reading Adventures part 2.

Approx. time reading: 10 hrs
I kept falling asleep yesterday afternoon while trying to read, so finally just gave in to the z's.

Weekend Snacks/Foods: tuna salad in pita bread, Famous Amos cookies, an end of season BBQ at a local park, scrambled eggs from eggs laid by our very own chickens for breakfast, and Tiki punch (left over from the end of season BBQ) for the Pipe and drum band dear hubby is a part of. I also had a 'foot long' hot dog at the BBQ for the novelty of it, but in reality only ate maybe 2 inches, since I can't eat much meat anyway. DH ate the rest of it.

Monday morning wrap-up
Books read from: Battlefield: Farming a Civil War Battleground by Peter Svenson. Delta Wedding by Eudora Welty for a LT group read. I am listening to Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: Ravening of Wolves by Rob Howell

Book Thoughts: I had a real life bookclub meeting last night and my hot spot stopped working. I had to drive the 4 blocks to Starbucks and sit outside listening to the discussion. I couldn't believe how many super noisy cars there were on the streets. They were just obnoxious. Somehow I never noticed the street noise before. I guess I didn't need to pay any attention to it until I needed it to be quiet. I got in for the last 15 minutes of the discussion. I then went home and tried to get my hot spot to work and it simply won't. I think that something has gone wrong with it. I just hope it hasn't cost real money.
Time reading: 1 hours.
Time posting:
Food: cottage cheese and honeydew melon for breakfast
Nonbook activities: I got up at 4:30 AM this morning to watch the funeral and was miffed because the proceedings actually started at 4 AM. CNN lied to me! They said it started at 5 AM. Of course, that was eastern time. You would think that after 3 years of working on Zoom with distance education people from all over the country I would have paid attention to the time zones - but I didn't. I watched it all the way to the end of the London part. I didn't get to see any of the part of the funeral procession at Windsor and that was a bummer. I was really pleased to see the RCMP's taking part in the procession. And liked it that Princess Anne was dressed in pants and walked with the other children. You go Girl!!!!!
