CAT Voting is now open.
Some discussion of the proposed CATs can be found https://www.librarything.com/topic/345056#n7961511
Vote for as many as you wish. The top three in Yes votes will be chosen as CATs. If there is a draw or very close contenders we will decide whether to have four CATs or a runoff vote - depending on how close top results are.
Voting will be open until November 1 at 9pm Pacific Time.

Perhaps the no votes be subtracted from the yes votes, like a politician's popularity rating, and we don't count the undecided. Maybe when they've thought about it for longer and have more information, people could change their undecideds to yes or no, or cancel them. This is only a suggestion.

I am undecided on CriminalCAT, because I do not see how this is different from MysteryKIT
19LadyoftheLodge
>18 lowelibrary: MysteryKit includes all kinds of mysteries as decided by the monthly hosts. A mystery does not have to involve a crime. Look at the past MysteryKit wikis or threads to see past topics and titles.

>16 Helenliz: Traditionally, the Yes votes determine the CATs chosen. No votes are not considered, neither are Undecided.
>17 pamelad: Same answer as above. I have found the Undecided box is useful as a marker when I want to consider and change my choice.

If anyone can help me understand how CityCAT might work I'd appreciate it. I can't find the originator of the suggestion. I imagined it might be if a city name was in the title, subject or setting.

>24 sallylou61: Glad you find the comments worthwhile, Allison. This method has always worked for as long as I've been around (this is my 11th Category Challenge) and as they say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Moving this up. KiddyCAT is making a last-minute run and is neck and neck with ClassicsCAT.
28VivienneR
>27 pamelad: I've been watching too! Pretty exciting. It's looking like we will have four CATs.
29VivienneR
The way I read the results is that we have four clear winners for 2023. A great mix of CAT breeds. None of the other proposals came close.

Excellent set of CATs, I look forward to participating on some of them.
However, if your favourite didn't make it as a CAT, you can still add it to the BingoDog card. Suggestions can still be made here: https://www.librarything.com/topic/345066#7951351

This is a great set of CATs for 2023! I would be happy to set up the GeoCAT, but as I will be starting work soon, I won't be able to do this until the evening. I'll put up a thread then.

Thanks! We have a great selection for 2023.

I am happy to set up KiddyCAT, will do in the next couple of days. Please check calendars and get ready to host a month.

>29 VivienneR: Thank you for doing this work! I have to take a break from hosting this year, but I will be following along in many of the CATs and joining in when I can. They all look great, even the ones I didn't vote for ;-) I am tempted on all of them.

>38 beebeereads: As I said above, it was a pleasure to participate in the planning. Since I've been in the Category Challenge I've enjoyed ALL the CATs ever chosen.
>39 JayneCM: I'm already planning books that might fit the CATs.

I will likely take part in the KiddyCAT and SeriesCAT. Possibly GeoCAT (or not); still to decide on that one.
42JayneCM
>40 VivienneR: I agree - I love how the CATs make me extend my reading, looking for books that will fit.
43VivienneR
>42 JayneCM: There have been books I read and hugely enjoyed that I'd never have read otherwise had it not been for a CAT.
