It's not a mountain to climb ...

... it's a forest to explore.

Oooooooooh. Someone shared that in another group, referring to the TBR pile. The shackles are off! I can now collect any number of unread books and never care a fig for when or if I'll ever get around to reading them, because it's a forest, people! And the bigger the forest, the more exploring you can do. Who cares if you get a little lost and turned around, start going in circles as night falls and the creepy animal noises start - it's a forest, that's what matters!

Says Personality A (the collector). Personality B (the reader) is incapable of speech for the moment.

Well, as long as there is space in your house for the said forest anyway :)

I like the sentiment though :)

I’ve been poking and shifting on my shelves the last couple of weeks, in search of titles I know I have. In the process, I’m unearthing some lovely books I’d really like to get to, as well as best beloveds that cry for a re-read. But then there is that pile of library books, another pile of books just arrived from AbeBooks, and the queue on Libby to attend to.
I’ll never get done.
I’m gonna work on it this winter break, perhaps.

I LIKE that. Better way to look at it.

So my dream house would be a forest of books. Ok, how can my eco-partner argue with that! 😀

Not a mountain, nor a forest.

“ Think not of the books you've bought as a "to be read" pile. Instead, think of your bookcase as a wine cellar. You collect books to be read at the right time, the right place, and the right mood.”
