The app won't let me add Books anymore

Last night I was adding books from my home library. Everything was going along smoothly, until it didn't. The app suddenly stopped letting me add books. The error message kept saying something about being unable to retrieve information. It has done this before, but never for so long. I went to bed for several hours, woke up, and still the books hadn't loaded. So I went on the website and added them manually, but they still do not show up on the app. The website says they are duplicate copies. But they still don't show up on the app--the last 13 titles I uploaded. So I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, but my books still don't show up. What's going on? Why aren't my books loading onto the app anymore?

See https://www.librarything.com/topic/347826 - there appears to be a problem with the servers at the moment - a DB or a server is out of sync which leads to books being added but not showing and other mismatches.
LT’s offices are on the US East Coast so someone should be able to look at it in the morning.

So give the books some time to show up or just wait till the morning when the admins can figure out what is going on and get the servers sorted out.

Thanks for the report, related to https://www.librarything.com/topic/347826 and I'm passing this to developers to make sure nothing else needs to be done to clean this up. We're already working on a fix which should cover this, I think.

Kristi, could this also account for the fact that flagged profiles are not disappearing as usual? See https://www.librarything.com/topic/346048#8040958 et seq.

>5 lilithcat: How should they be disappearing? I checked some of those and they look flagged to me, now. (That issue was reported to me in Messages last night, so I checked on that this morning.)

>6 kristilabrie:

Usually when a spam profile is flagged, it disappears. That wasn't happening yesterday, despite multiple people flagging them. It appears that they are gone now, however, so whatever the issue was seems to have been resolved.

>7 lilithcat: Yes, thanks! I think this issue should be resolved as of about 10:30am ET this morning. Please let me know if you're still having any trouble.

Over the last several weeks (possibly before Christmas?), I've found the app to be extremely slow if not non-responsive, sometimes not finding or adding a work at all - until (sometimes) it suddenly finds and adds multiple copies. I presumed it was a connectivity issue but basically stopped scanning barcodes or searching on the app, waiting instead to add books through the website. (BTW, I'm enjoying the new "Add books" protocol on the website so far; it never occurred to me how cumbersome the old methods were until they were streamlined - good work, and thanks!)

>9 jasbro: Would love to know which app you're using (iOS/Android: and if iOS, which version and build?), along with what device/OS (operating system) you have? Which source/s do you have checked on your Home > Account page in the app? Any recent search/es you can think of where you last saw this lagging? Thanks!

Since yesterday, I am also having issues with the entry of new books, the system is not recognizing copy 1 and copy 2, just showing the old version, but if I search the history of entries (from yesterday and today) still there. How do I have to proceed, please? thanks for your support, Andrea

Note: I am on MacBook Pro

>11 RSSAA: Thanks for the report. A couple of clarifying questions:

1. "the system is not recognizing copy 1 and copy 2, just showing the old version": what is "the old version" you're referring to? How is the system not recognizing your copies? Do you mean that they just aren't being found in the catalog search? Or is it something else?

2."...but if I search the history of entries..." Are you browsing (scrolling through your catalog, page by page), or are you actually entering searches into your catalog? If the latter, what search/es are (or are not) working for you?

I'm trying to determine if you're having search indexing issues like everyone else or if there's more going on for you, here. Thanks!

>15 jasbro: Aha, I have an iPhone 8 myself (given to me by my husband: it was his "spare" iPhone...). I'm guessing your issue might be more closely related to this bug, then: https://www.librarything.com/topic/346916, lucky you!
