I seem to recall that the main young teen girl character was adopted. I don't remember how much the Christian aspect had to do with the series, but I do recall that it touched on a lot of heavy issues. The main character was cut from the same cloth as Trixie Belden, vs. Nancy Drew. These were books that I discovered at a church library, were often sold at Christian book stores, but weren't super popular, if I remember correctly.

Could it be a series by Lee Roddy?
I had to suffer a lot under my evangelical grandmother, so I avoid anything religious nowadays...
But I have always loved reading as a means of escape - of course my grandmother was nearly the only one who gifted me books and of course all the books she gifted me had an (at least mildly) Christian touch. *eyeroll* I devoured it anyways, because at least I could get away from my own life for some time...
I was given and read the whole An American Adventure series.
He also wrote The Ladd Family Adventure series featuring a girl main character, but by the time she could have started giving me those, I had outgrown the age range of the intended audience... :') So I never read that one...
Both series were published in the 1980s.

Possibly the Elizabeth Gail series by Hilda Stahl? She was a foster kid who gets adopted. First book: Elizabeth Gail and the Mystery at the Johnson Farm.

Maybe the Mandie books by Lois Gladys Leppard? Though I don't remember whether she was adopted or not.

Saskia17,
Yes! Thank you so much. I have no idea how well these hold up, but it was driving me to distraction not being able to remember.
