Book about tattoo magic and a young woman.

Does anyone here recognize this book description?

I read this book sometime around 2015 in the area of Houston, Tx, USA.
I think it was hard back.
I don't remember the the title, author, or any names from the book.
A teen girl/ young woman is taken on as her uncle's apprentice in the art of magic tattoos and begins learning.
She gets her first tattoo.
There was mention of the tattoos glowing when activated and special ingredients and maybe blood used to make the ink.

I very specifically remember her uncle being a tattoo artist and her starting her apprenticeship to him in the first 5 chapters
