- The main character might have been a mouse? Definitely a rodent of some kind.
- It was a mixed rodent society - mice, rats, hamsters, etc.
- Protagonist was a sort of reluctant detective - liked his food, bit chubby
- Plot involved him going undercover at a health spa
- There was a big automated plastic surgery machine at the spa that was demonstrated by throwing life-sized stuffed animals in. It had different settings for different species. Inevitably the protagonist almost gets thrown in himself, but saves himself at the last second and the villain goes in instead.
- I think there was a second book featuring a female (also rodent) aviator. They flew into a desert together?

Pretty sure this is Time Stops for No Mouse. I loved this one as a kid :)

You legend! That's it exactly! I was going to add that the characters had excellent names, but I wasn't 100% sure of that so I left it out. Hermux Tantamoq... Oh my old friend :)
