Mom's doing good. She has a surgery planned for tomorrow for her right leg. This should be the last surgery she needs.

>2 SilverWolf28: That is very good news, Silver. I hope her recovery continues apace.
I am hoping to do better this weekend in the readathon than I did last weekend.

I will be participating this weekend. I will probably be driving during the week. My brother-in-law died Wednesday morning and my sister is in need of comfort. He was in a nursing home and was incapacitated with various medical problems so the death was not unexpected. However,... I will probably be leaving this coming week and making the road trip to Kansas again.

Friday night update
Books read from: Mission: A True Story by David W. Brown. Great Santini by Pat Conroy. I am listening to East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
Books finished in this weekend's Readathon:
Book Thoughts: I am still intrigued by Mission: A True Story by David W. Brown. I am learning so much about the science behind all those amazing NASA projects and about our solar system. Add to that, this is just a fun book to read. It is written in a snarky graduate student way that makes it fun to read.
Non-Book activities: I had supper with friends tonight and forgot to wish them all Happy Bastille Day! So I will wish that to all of the people who are faithfully reading this thread and adding to it each week.
Time reading: .5 hours
Time posting:
Food: hamburger at Burgerfi
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 338
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 974.5 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon back in April of 2020

Saturday night update
Books read from: Mission: A True Story by David W. Brown. Great Santini by Pat Conroy. I am listening to East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
Books finished in this weekend's Readathon:
Book Thoughts: I didn't do much reading today. What I did for reading was to read more in Mission: A True Story by David W. Brown. I did listen to about 2 hours of East of Eden and only have 6 more CD's to listen to.
Non-Book activities: I went to Birmingham to visit with friends. I discovered a new book and coffee shop along the way and went swimming late in the afternoon at a very fancy country club pool. When I got home I discovered that the neighbors were having a party at at this point is still doing very loud music and there are lots of cars parked in front of my house. I am not liking that very much. I might get lots of reading done late tonight because the music will keep me from sleeping even though my fan in the bedroom provides lots of white noise.

I couldn't get into a L'Amour (Off the Mangrove Coast), so I headed back to the Foreigner series, with Peacemaker. I won't finish it today or tomorrow, so count that as my only book for the weekend.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: Mission: A True Story by David W. Brown
Book Thoughts: I finished reading Mission: A True Story by David W. Brown. I learned a great deal from this book and had fun reading it. I listened to a little bit of East of Eden while driving around town on errands today and to my surprise I am almost done with another CD.
Non-Book activities: I spent 2 1/2 hours at the swimming pool today. It seems that our week of afternoon showers has ended. This allowed me to finish reading my book.

Weekend summary:
Books read from: Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky.
Books finished: none
Pages read: 150-ish
A light reading weekend, as I spent a good chunk of it in a cribbage tournament. My son also played & we both made the cut (top 16 of the 64 starters) and made a little money.
