Found: Searching for name of a fantasy book with "halflings" and jewel colored eyes

Hello, read a book series late 80's, early 90's involving "halflings" on a quest, somewhat Lord of the Rings type, involving their ability to be able to see better in a twillight setting due to their unusual eyes. They were called wyrrens or something, and they lived behind a thorn wall. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone, or has anyone heard of this series?

Sounds like The Iron Tower trilogy by Dennis McKiernan.
