I am in as much as I can be. I will be at my father's house on Saturday, probably all day, so no reading will get done then. I will likely substitute Monday's reading for Saturday's, if I get any reading done on that day.

Mom's doing better, she's in a long term care/rehab hospital now and will be for a month or two, then she'll go to a rehab place closer to us.

>3 SilverWolf28: I am glad to hear that she is doing better! I am sure you will be relieved once she is in rehab and closer to you.

I am in, too. I picked pears for jam and tomatoes for sauce and we are meeting a friend at the winery on Sunday afternoon when it is supposed to cool off a bit. Otherwise, the time is open for reading. The fall semester is starting to cast its shadow but the syllabi can wait until next week.
>3 SilverWolf28: Glad about your mom. I stayed with my parents for ten days while dad had his gallbladder removed. He is doing well but wasn't supposed to drive for two weeks. They are a little bored but otherwise fine.

I am going to participate this weekend. The funeral is over and most of the family has now gone away so I will have time to read.

I'm in - we've got company in for the weekend, so we'll see how much reading gets done. Just finished Around the World in 80 Days and am about to start Orphans of the Sky by Robert Heinlein.

Friday night
Books read from: Annette Vallon by James Tipton. Great Santini by Pat Conroy. I am listening to All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot.
Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: none
Book Thoughts: I finished several books in the last week but didn't have time to participate in the readathon last weekend. I am reading Great Santini for my real life book discussion group and I am not liking this book. We are reading it because the group is Tuscaloosa based and we needed to read a "southern" novel. A Pat Conroy book was the only thing we could agree on, so we settled on this book. I am not sure that it was a good choice. Oh well - that's how it goes sometimes. I got in little reading time today.
Non-Book activities: I spent a nice two hours with a high school classmate of mine while having coffee at the local coffee shop. It was a welcome change from the fraught atmosphere at home this last week.
Time reading: 1 hour
Time posting:
Food: pizza at a local place tonight
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 339
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 980 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon back in April of 2020

Total time reading: ~3.4 hours + listening to audiobook
Played The Quacks of Quedlinburg with my husband, Kerry. Went to the local health food store. Cooked dinner. Spoke to my mother twice and my daughter Catey once. Kept hoping for text messages or emails saying we might be closing on the house today. Arranged for the removal of the antique organ from the house and its transportation to Longview. Talked to a local furniture consignment store about removal of the other furniture.

Saturday afternoon update
Books read from: Annette Vallon by James Tipton. Great Santini by Pat Conroy. I am listening to All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot.
Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: none
Book Thoughts: I have spent most of my reading time today on Great Santini because this is for a real life book discussion group. It was a quiet morning and I got to see the front come through. It really cooled things off.
Non-Book activities: I ordered some replacement parts for my Woodstock Chimes and to my horror found out that the company was sold. It is going to get harder to find replacement parts for the chimes and I love to leave them outside all year round. This will make it harder to do so. I plan on going to pick blackberries as well.
Time reading: 2 hours
Time posting:
Food: left overs for lunch
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 339

Sunday morning update:
Books read from: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Non-book activities: Made tomato sauce, watched Endeavor and crocheted
Book thoughts: Fourth Wing was recommended by a new bookish friend. Fantasy sci if isn’t my usual fare and I was a bit put off at the beginning by the violence and lots of deaths of recruits. Otherwise, it is a really good book with fun characters including dragons.
Today is finally cooler, and my plan is a bit of gardening, some more tomato sauce and reading by the pool. My dear husband talked me out of going to the grocery store. Note: it wasn’t hard.

Weekend Roundup
Books read from: Annette Vallon by James Tipton. Great Santini by Pat Conroy. I am listening to All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot.
Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: none
Book Thoughts: I have spent most of my reading time today on Great Santini because this is for a real life book discussion group. I am close to finishing this book and find myself wondering what all the fuss was about this book down South. People love it there and to me it is just another coming of age novel.
Non-Book activities: Another product that I liked gasp of horror. I have a simplehuman automatic soap dispenser by my kitchen sink and like it. I ordered one for my mother and I can't get the thing to work. Since I ordered it from Amazon, if I can't get it to work, there is no recourse except to go to Amazon for a refund. Simplehuman won't provide a replacement. Oh well! There is twenty dollars down the tubes.
Time reading: 2 hours on Sunday
Time posting:
Food: hot dogs, corn salad, and fresh beans at the weekly block party that was held in a rain storm. Then when I got home the electricity was out from 9 PM to 12:30 AM. I think I would have finished Great Santini if I had been able to read late into the night, but without lights that is hard to do.
