Time to pick our next 3 authors.
The 22 we read between October 2021 and September 2023 are ineligible: their list is in the wiki: https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/Monthly_Author_Reads#Recent_Picks
Anyone else is fair game -- although they should preferably have at least something published in English.
The following authors have half a point from last time:
Willa Cather
Colson Whitehead
Emile Zola
Georges Simenon
H. Rider Haggard
Nomination gives a point to the author. Seconding, thirding and so on and all other kinds of support add a point as well.
Deadline: August 24, 2023 or until I post the results on the morning of 25th anyway.
In case of ties, I pick who we read, the remainder of the tied authors go into the next round with half a point each.

I nominate Willa Cather to celebrate the 150th anniversary of her birth in December 1873.

>2 Tess_W: I second The Brontes

Results:
2.5: Colson Whitehead (Tess_W, MissWatson, 1/2)
2.5: Willa Cather (kac522, MissWatson, 1/2)
2: The Bronte Sisters (Tess_W, john257hopper)
1.5: Georges Simenon (MissWatson, 1/2)
So I will break the rules a bit and sent Cather into December (because anniversary and all that).
So the last 3 choices for 2023 are:
October: Colson Whitehead
November: The Bronte Sisters: Charlotte Brontë, Emily Brontë and Anne Brontë
December: Willa Cather
No ties to carry into next year so we have a clear state for 2024. We are going to vote for January-March in November :)
The topics will be up later (possibly as late as mid September when I am back from a vacation).
