Mom's doing good. She's been moved to a less critical floor of the rehab hospital. And she's needing less pain medicine. She's also able to start eating soft food now, she still has the feeding tube but they're phasing it out. She's talking quite well now. Because of the head injury she's not quite right mentally, she hallucinates some things, hopefully that will get better soon.

>2 SilverWolf28: Good news all the way around! Hopefully the hallucinations will pass soon.

I am in for at least Friday and Saturday. Catey is coming into town on Sunday, so likely not then.

Hello everyone! I've never done a readathon here before, so I'm looking forward to this! I joined the group last year and I haven't been too active (which is why I didn't realize until a couple days ago that there were readathons!). I'm really close to reaching the goal (just finished 71!) so I'm thinking that a readathon this weekend may be just the thing. I won't be able to read the whole time, but I'll be hiding with my books as much as I can. :)

I am going to participate this weekend. My mother was taken to the hospital this morning so I am not sure how long I will be at my house. I may have another long trip to Kansas in my immediate future.

Weekend wrap-up
Books read from: Next Supper: The End of Restaurants as We Knew Them, and What Comes After by Corey Mintz. Venus in Copper by Lindsey Davis. I am listening to All Things Wise and Wonderful by James Herriot.

Books finished: Venus in Copper by Lindsey Davis

Book Thoughts: I finished reading Venus in Copper for the LT Mystery Series Challenge. This was the August book and I had requested it through Inter-Library Loan. I was not able to pick it up until I got back from Kansas and since it was the August book, I decided to devote the holiday weekend to reading it. It was a very entertaining mystery novel and I learn much through its examination of ancient Roman life. I was unable to get into LT for most of the entire weekend so was unable to post here to the group. I was surprised how much I missed everybody. It will be impossible for me to catch up on the threads after an entire weekend away.

Non-Book activities: I went to Gadsden and spent Saturday knitting with the ladies and enjoyed every minute of it. I only bought two new skeins of yarn so I am going to actually catch up on some of my projects. I have two started that I want to finish for Christmas presents, so time to quit buying and start knitting.

Time reading over the weekend: 6 hours

Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 346
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 1003 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon back in April of 2020

I didn't read as much as I wanted to, but I did get some in!

Books read from: The Awakening
Books finished: The Jane Austen Book Club

Thoughts: I did not enjoy the JABC at all and had to plod through it. It was for a book club. I may just follow my instincts next time and pass on book club for a month if they pick one I really have no desire to read. I have too many books and too little time to read them! :) I made it almost halfway through my second book, (203/435 pages), this weekend. I have some misgivings and I'm not sure if I'll give it a high rating when I'm done, but I am reading through it much more quickly than the last book, so I'm happy about that.

Non-book activities: Journaling, spending time with family and friends, cooking, etc. For the first time I can remember in many years, I didn't have to work during Labor Day weekend and I made sure to spend the time not-laboring. :) I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
