The weekend started very well.
Yesterday the deli had fresh tuna, so we had a very tasty lunch:

Tuna tartare, tuna steak wrapped in sesame seeds, rice, tuna sashimi flamed.

Today we have 2 events, first we are going to an open reading circle - the whole city is called to read the same book - Der rote Swimmingpool - I am curious about the opinions of the others.
Tonight we are having a street party and barbecue.
It's a small street, there will be just over 30 of us - the weather is supposed to stay nice.

I love this book, it is a re-re-read.
Charlie is a gifted dancer with a bullet in his hip who now accompanies performances as a cameraman. Shara is a gifted dancer with a beautiful body that is not suited to ballet.
They find a way to dance anyway - in space. And when aliens appear, their skills as a translator are needed. Shara manages to repel the dancing creatures, but she has too little oxygen to return.
Charlie sets up a dance company in space and becomes very successful, also as a dancer.
Then the strangers come back.
A beautiful book about love and hope, I am not a sentimental person, but here I had some water in my eyes.

It's not the only event, others were better attended. On 6 October there is the big closing event with the author herself.
In 2019, we had the Baden-Württemberg Literature Days in the city with many different events and authors. This gave rise to the idea of choosing a book every year and reading it together. We love it.

On Saturday we also had a great time, we went to a Boogie Woogie concert with Jörg Hegemann (piano), Paul G. Ulrich (bass) and Jan Freund (drums).
I participated so much that I far exceeded the step target of my SmartWatch ;-)

Thank goodness he is doing a little better now.

Again the Early Reviewers program helped me get a good book.

Yesterday we had a wonderful evening. My favourite bookshop hosted a book launch evening.
First there was sparkling wine, then the staff presented their favourite new releases.
Of course there were lots of BB again, as if I needed that 😉.
Two interesting and varied hours with good books and acquaintances surrounded by books.

In a presented calendar I found a saying that appealed to me:

In the afternoon I grabbed a book to read it on the terrace in the beach chair.
In this moment my smartwatch displayed "You have reached your goal!" - true words...

Can it be readable? - Definitely yes, I love it.
In a small town in the deep south, the bodies of 2 men are found, one body disappears and is later found with another body. It doesn't stop with these deaths and various investigators try to shed light on the case.
The ending is a bit quirky and I didn't quite get how the title fits the content, but it was definitely a wonderful book.

Wonderfully written and well worth reading.

Now the roles are reversed, the whites are dependent on him. In the village they are eyed with suspicion, only the children have no fear of contact. The parents find it very difficult to come to terms with the new situation.
Nadine Gordimer paints a marvellous picture with words, whereby marvellous does not mean beautiful, the ending is open, whereby in Maureen's situation even a bad development can be a redemption...

The book is a compilation that has probably only been published in Germany, it has been in our family for a very long time and I enjoyed reading it again.

Last night we went to the first living Advent calendar this year. It's a lovely tradition in our neighbourhood. People get together for a short prayer with singing, then there's mulled wine, snacks, Christmas buns and conversation.
Every evening at a different family.
We have also hosted the event in recent years, together with our neighbours, but they are in poor health and we didn't want to host it without them.

Each chapter is about a different sibling, the sudden flashbacks are sometimes irritating, but otherwise a frighteningly good book to read.

By the way, the christmas crib is handmade. My sister-in-law's brother is very talented and sawed it for us.

Now I'm going to help my wife with the cooking, she's much better at it than I am, but I'm quite good at chopping and mortaring spices.
Today we're having veal fillet with cardamom sauce and wild garlic noodles (we didn't make the noodles ourselves, but we know the manufacturer)

Sear the meat, then place in the oven at 70°C for approx. 1 hour until the core temperature is approx. 56°C.

The sauce consists of 400 ml veal stock, 400 ml chicken stock, 500 ml red wine, 1/2 tablespoon of ground cardamom, fleur de sel and cornflour to thicken, plus jam, maple syrup, soy sauce,...
Boil down until the sauce thickens.

The wild garlic noodles were bought...

The black grains on the meat are peppercorns fermented with sea salt.

A pleasure to read, sometimes I was reminded of Shaft.
