Found: Vintage illustrated childrens story book involving a yeti (maybe?) and a white seal

I read this book as a child in the eighties or nineties. I think the main character is a yeti or snow monster of some sort but I might be off here. He wants to take this fluffy white seal and keep it for himself. The moral of the story is to leave things in nature so they can continue to flourish and be enjoyed. There is an example about not picking a flower so it's bloom can continue to be enjoyed.

The seal might sing....or maybe I've mixed that up with another story. It's driving me NUTS trying to remember it! 😂
