This month we are looking to capture our imaginations and be entertained by fairy tales, myths and legends. I am also including the retelling of the classic stories that we grew up with. These are stories that reflect our history, our culture, our dreams and even our fears. Some have been passed down over generations of storytellers while others were acted, danced and sung.
It seems that every country has it’s myths, legends and fairy stories, from America’s Paul Bunyon to the Anansi tales from West Africa and the Caribbean, to Nordic stories of elves and trolls or the Golems and giants of central Europe. Enjoy your journey to the land of make-believe but watch out for the Kelpies, Banshee, dragons and witches.
Please let us know what you are going to be reading and when finished, how you enjoyed it. Here is the location of the Kiddy-Kat Wiki: https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/2023_KiddyCAT

I am planning on reading a retelling of "The Magic Flute" with Sunlight and Shadow by Cameron Dokey. Also I hope to read Red Hood's Revenge by Jim C. Hines, based on "Little Red Riding Hood".

Oh, I'm looking forward to this one. I'm sure I'll have a few options!

I do have a few options, but I'm most likely to go with these:
A Tangled Web / Mercedes Lackey
Fables: Werewolves of the Heartland / Bill Willingham

Right now my likely choice is Dinah Mulock Craik's The Fairy Book, which I believe is a translation/adaptation of Perrault's fairy tales.
6VivienneR
Not many to choose from in my collection but I believe Nancy Springer's Rowan Hood Returns will fit.
7LadyoftheLodge
I read The Runaway Tortilla which is a variation on the Little Gingerbread Man story.

Just finished Rowan Hood Returns: The Final Chapter by Nancy Springer
I really enjoyed this series and am sorry to come to the final book. I'll miss the characters and Sherwood Forest.

Persephone is in love with Hades (keeper of the Underworld), and he with her. But her mother, Demeter (goddess of fertility) is way-overprotective and Persephone wants to get out from under her wing. Persephone and Hades come up with a plan to “kidnap” her to the underworld in a way where she wouldn’t be able to come back. Unfortunately, with the help of Hades sometimes-chariot-driver, the wrong goddess is kidnapped!
I really enjoyed this! I learned a little bit about mythology, as well. I’m sure I knew some of this at some point, but most of what I once knew I’ve forgotten! It’s a short story, so it’s fairly quick to read.

I read Shattered Snow by Rachel Huffmire a Snow White retelling
14MissBrangwen
I read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, which is not a retelling, more of a continuation of the myths to the present day, but I think it fits.
15DeltaQueen50
>14 MissBrangwen: Definitely fits!!
16DeltaQueen50
I have completed Sunlight and Shadow by Cameron Dokey, a light retelling of the operetta "The Magic Flute".
17JayneCM
I read The Three Billy Goats Gruff and Other Read-Aloud Stories. I do love the Dover Thrift editions of both kids and adults classics.

I have completed Red Hood's Revenge which is the third book in the Princess series by Jim C. Hines. Lots of action and magic, I enjoyed this outing.

I read A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce, which is a slow-paced but atmospheric YA retelling of Rumpelstiltskin.
