Hi there! Looking for the following. These are the things I remember:
- children's book from the 80s or early 90s, I guess for ages at least 6 and up
- a proper story with many illustrations (not an illustration book with just a few lines or words)
- blue-ish cover, size of a normal novel, on the front an illustration of the protagonist
- a male figure (bear or man) goes on a long solo travel through different landscapes meeting different beings, I remember a cliff, cacti (?), a hat (perhaps a sombrero?), the building of a robot or large construction (?)
- there is a solemnness to the man/bear and his journey
- I would categorize it as more of an alternative/artsy/odd story, not disney-ish or with many bright colors
- Of the following I am not actually sure, but I have a vague memory of it being a book that can be flipped over and read from either side; or the story ends where it begins
- I remember the drawings reminding me of Janosch (but I can't find any Janosch book that matches my description)
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi there! Is there anyone out there who might recognize what I'm looking for? Thank you! :)

Wild guess: Jim Henson's Tale of Sand?
