Help!!

I read a book about two sisters who live on an island. One of the sisters has a baby. I remember the book being told from the daughters point of view(the baby grown up). She now lives with her aunt who seems like a spinster. The aunt has a scar on her hand that she doesn't speak about. Turns out the scar is from her sister biting her when she is falling through ice before she died. I can't remember the title, or the author.
