One day sale underway at New York Review Books, including titles from Dorothy that they now distribute.

Highly recommend the recent release The Stronghold, a translation of Buzzati's The Tartar Steppe. The latest Dorothy release, The New Animals, is my next read after I finish my current fiction title.

>1 Shadekeep: Thanks for the notification. Just bought half of my wishlist. Unfortunately, Stronghold is not in stock. I'll have to wait for next time.

They recently had a 40% off sale like 3 weeks ago if you buy 4 or more. May be better to wait a few more months for the sale will certainly happen again.

A Story of my Life by Paustovsky is a must. Its 800 pages but an amazing book and I can't wait for the second volume (books 4, 5 and 6). According to the introduction he should have won the Nobel and didn't because of politics which is why Pasternak won who had stronger ties to the Stalinist party and the nobel committee wanted to appease Stalin.

NYRB have another sale on at the moment with a 'Page to Screen' theme.

Up to 40% off for 4 books from their selection of 48 books, all of which have been adapted for Film/TV (or have a movie theme).

I was pleased to order a few from my wishlist: In a Lonely Place, Inverted World, Fat City and Beware of Pity.

>5 GardenOfForkingPaths: What movie version of Inverted World is there? It's a great novel, but I've not seen a film of it. Though apparently one of a similar theme exists.

In a Lonely Place is both a great book and movie, excellent choice there.

Curious that The Continuous Katherine Mortenhoe isn't part of the sale, as it was made into the rather good arthouse film Death Watch.

>6 Shadekeep: Good question. I can't think of one and Google doesn't yield anything obvious either. Strange!

Another good sale - 2 titles 20% off, 3 at 30%, and 4 or more at 40%. Whole catalog is on sale, which is a awful lot of good stuff.

Incidentally, they also carry Archipelago and Dorothy titles, two other great imprints, and those are included as well.

>11 Shadekeep: Now you’re talking!

May I ask if you’re a subscriber? I just finished When The Sweet Dove Died. Light and enjoyable.

>12 Shotcaller: I'm an Archipelago subscriber but not an NYRB one (yet). I tend to pick up most Dorothy releases as well, though they tend to focus on just two a year so it's not a big lift.

I was considering that book, thanks for the feedback on it! Sounds like I'll dig it as well.
