I’m in! I’ll be reading The Penelopiad. I will probably read through Monday, as well, because I’m having a furnace and A/C installed. That said, I’m continuing Why Homer Matters and perhaps start Piranesi or Gods behaving badly

Sat night

Admit to not reading much today. Played with granddaughters all day and wrapped small advent gifts that were met with much excitement.

I’m enjoying The Appeal, Janice Halley. I’ll get back to it when the little ones get to bed.
We’re watching tv movie - Christmas at Mistletoe Farm … for the second night in a row.

Indian food for dinner. Hot chocolate with the movie.

Book Thoughts: about a half hour before bed last night and this morning. Just too tired to read.

I did not finish any books this weekend, but I made progress in Judges (KJB) and The Young Country Doctor by Vernon Coleman. The latter reminds me of a James Herriot book.

Weekend wrap-up
Books read from: Long Retreat: In Search of a Religious Life by Andrew Krivak. Last Collection by Jeanne Mackin. Doc by Mary Doria Russell. I am listening to Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Anne Shaffer.

Books finished: So Shall You Reap by Donna Leon. Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive by Stephanie Land.

Book Thoughts: I didn't finish any books yesterday or today, but did manage to get a great deal read in Last Collection. This is a fine historical fiction novel set in post-war France that also covers the pre-war years. It is about the rivalry between Coco Channel and Elsa Schiaparelli. It is very dramatic but many of both designers most famous designs are featured in the novel, so I am finding it interesting.

Non-Book activities: Christmas party over and done with. I still have a little baking to do but will get that done tomorrow and Wednesday. I love being busy in the kitchen but it does make a mess. I ran a load in the dishwasher last night and will do another load tonight.
