Mom's doing very good. We're still having a massive amount of trouble with the insurance.

I will be participating but since I will be driving it will be mostly listening this weekend.

>wonderful news about your mom!
Insurance sucks, I have been dealing with it with my dh's disability. Unreal.
I'm currently reading three books at the same time, not sure which one I'll be picking up this weekend.

>2 SilverWolf28: Sorry to hear about the insurance issues and hope you can get them resolved quickly, Silver. I am very glad to hear that your mother is doing well.
If my CFS leaves me alone, I am in this weekend. Kerry is going to a Christmas dinner tomorrow and I will have several hours in which to read.

Friday report
Books read from: Long Retreat: In Search of a Religious Life by Andrew Krivak. Last Collection by Jeanne Mackin. Doc by Mary Doria Russell. I am listening to Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Anne Shaffer and will start listening to Seveneves.
Books finished: Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.
Book Thoughts: I finished the recorded version of Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society last night and really enjoyed this outstanding version of the novel. The narrators were all very good and the different voices added to the reading of the novel. I have had this book since 2008 and was never inspired to read it until a discussion over on Joe's thread about epistolary literary style came up. I have read a few books in this style and generally enjoyed them so I did a search of my LT database to see what I had that fell into that category. This title came up and since I was getting ready to start a new recorded book and my local library had a recorded copy on the shelves I grabbed it and finished it. It was good reading. Since I will be driving tomorrow I am going to start a 33 hour novel Seveneves by the sci/fi author Neal Stephenson. This will take me forth and back as a listening book and I am excited to get started on it.
Non-Book activities: Baked my last gingerbread cake this morning and will let it cool and glaze it later this afternoon. Got my Christmas letter to the printers and will pick it up tomorrow on my way out of town. Have my car at the shop getting the oil changed and will pack my suitcase later this afternoon. then I will head out for Kansas and Christmas with my mother. Neither of my sisters are going to be in Kansas so it will be a quiet Christmas for us. At least my mother will be home.
