I can't remember too much. But I remember the main heroes had a wizard/magician who had a staff. The group were travelling accross some plains when they came accross a cottage ran by women. They stayed there a night to re-energize, then a second and a few more. They felt weaker and weaker. It turned out they were staying at a cottage ran by hags who were sucking the life force out of the heroes. They were able to escape and continue on their adventure.

I can't remember anything specific but I keep thinking of King Arthur/Holy Grail and maybe the Odyssey.

>2 humouress: I don't think it's one of the shannara series. I've read most of them recently and it doesn't ring a bell. I'll give them another go. And certainly look into the world of alfar I believe its the elves and the otterskin. Thank you so much
