from http://www.librarything.com/talktopic.php?topic=35276
message 3:
Edited to add: Currently common knowledge, links, and author pictures don't transfer from the subordinates to the dominant when authors are combined. The feature has been requested a couple of times.

----

From http://www.librarything.com/commonknowledge/search.php?q=Kolker%2C+Boris&f=2... one can see that originaly I added Common Knowledge to Author: Борис Григорьевич Колкер http://www.librarything.com/author.php?author=578747255 .

Then I combined with Author: Boris Kolker http://www.librarything.com/author/kolkerboris etc.

When reminding that I need to copy (better to transfer) Common Knowledge I separated and copied the Common Knowledge information because it is not inherited. Then I combined again.

But because I did not delete the information from the source http://www.librarything.com/commonknowledge/search.php?q=Akademio+de+Esperanto&a... shows both variant names.

nice to have: only the « dominant » variant name should be displayed if more variant names are included in the search result

This is a known issue. It's just not one that's perfectly easy to solve because of technical issues. It is certainly on the list of things to solve though.

Today I would have used the following terminology:
« top level author url »
« second level author url » 's or « combined url » 's

note: I assume that this is an issue about inheritence of « Common Knowledge » when
#a: combining author urls
#b: combining woirks
