I just watched a trailer for a new movie "I.S.S" and it got me thinking about a book I read a long time ago that I can't remember the title with a similar plot.

Read this 10+ years ago. Fiction, Sci Fi, set on a space station, has a female lead character (don't remember if she's captain or not).
World war breaks out and there's a fight onboard, final fight is over a single escape pod. Clearly remember her getting slashed on the forehead and slapping duct tape over it lol. Lead character has a kid on the surface.
I do not believe it was a romance novel although there was a relationship onboard the station.
Ends with her winning, and jettisoning down to the surface.
Any help in finding this one is appreciated! All my searches are dead-ending due to it being very close to the similar movie coming out.

Maybe also look at Sassinak which was a collab between Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Moon. I don't remember this incident specifically, but it seems like the sort of thing she might do...
