I am looking for a book I read as a child probably 15 years ago, it'll be YA Fantasy/SciFi
The main parts I remember are that the main character walks through these rock tunnels like a maze and finds this monster at the centre of the maze.
I cannot picture the monster thing but think it was blobby or globular, and I think it glowed?
