Fictional book, seems to be set in ancient japan.

Girl is enamored with Japanese sun god, who takes her to his palace/residence. She eats more than his other servants/retinue who are disapproving of her for that, since they don't require food. At some point, she finds out that the sun god is either in love or too close to his moon sister. She is depressed and barely touches her food during mealtime and the servants/retinue even express concern for her seeing that.
She falls in love with another boy, who seems to be the younger sibling of the sun god. I don't remember how, but she dies and the boy almost kills the god who was the cause for it, likely the sun god. He doesn't kill him in the end.
