Hi Everyone! I want to draw your attention to LibraryThing's March interview with translator Karen Emmerich, whose new translation of Alki Zei's The Wildcat Behind Glass—a classic of modern Greek children's literature—is due out next month from Restless Books.

You can read the interview here: https://blog.librarything.com/2024/03/translator-interview-karen-emmerich/. If interested in the book itself, you can enter to win a copy from this month's Early Reviewers batch: The Wildcat Behind Glass.

Great interview! I think translators don’t get enough credit, both for making works available to audiences who wouldn’t otherwise be able to read them, and for the delicate tightrope-walking they do between faithfulness to the original work and comprehensibility to the new audience.

A year or so ago I heard an interview with the Danish translator of Murakami. She is doing an awesome job.
