Hi everyone! I have been trying to find a book for over a decade now, and someone referred me here, so I thought I'd give it a shot!
I read this book when I was young - middle school, I believe, so in the 90's. I don't remember the title, but I do remember that it was about a boy and a girl (no relation) who were born at the exact same time down to the second and this gave them the ability to communicate with each other telepathically. I believe they were in different universes, but I could be wrong about that. I think that one of them ended up getting in danger and the other one was able to help somehow. They were younger than 16, I believe, as well. It was not illustrated, it was a chapter book/novel. The cover - if I'm remembering it correctly - was of a silhouette of a boy and girl's heads, with stars against a dark sky as the background. I don't recall it being dystopian, but at this point in time I'm ready to accept it was just a fever dream or something lol. Also, it wasn't a very popular book by industry standards; I didn't hear everyone raving about it or it being recommended to me, I just found it on my library shelf one day and decided to try it. I don't think it was part of a series; if it was, I never read the rest of the series because I didn't know there was one.
Any help would be appreciated - especially because now I've roped my best friend into the search and it is driving her crazy as well that she can't find it (which, admittedly, is making me giggle a little).

There's the similarly titled Of Two Minds, though I never read it. Also can't rule out Double Trouble by Barthe DeClements and Christopher Grimes.

OMG YA'LL.
I really had no expectations anyone would know what I was talking about, but sueelleker got it - I recognized the cover as soon as I saw it!! Thank ya'll SO MUCH.
(Also, I'm on the phone with my bestie who got the full-volume screech from me at the cover, and then she said "I FOUND THAT ONE but I thought it was wrong based on your description!!")
