Hello!
Let's share some recommendations. What have you been reading and loving? I'll be honest, I've been getting harder to impress and the 5 star reads are getting fewer. Don't get me wrong, there are some 4 and 3 star that I enjoy, but I'd really love a few WOW books. What have been your WOW books this year so far?

My favorites in the Romance lane have been Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez. Her books are everywhere lately and I have to say that I have loved most of them and only have one left to read.

Funny Story by Emily Henry was really good too. Again, her books are everywhere, but I have really liked most of them. My favorite is Happy Place

The Trail of Lost Hearts by Tracey Garvis-Graves is one I read earlier in the year that I really liked. I had read On the Island years ago which I really loved, but hadn't really read any of hers lately that I liked nearly as much. Trail of Lost Hearts is about two people who meet geocaching.

Some others that stand out so far this year are Savor It by Tarah DeWitt and When Hearts Attach by Leah Omar. Leah is a recent author discovery.

Have you read any of these? Would you like to start a discussion thread with spoilers?

Have you read any great books this year that you would like to recommend?

Melanie

On another romance book site, we do a "Favorite Books of the Month and Year" thread, and these are my 2024 books so far:

Jan- While the City Sleeps - by Elizabeth Camden
Feb- The Elusive Truth of Lily Temple - Joanna Davidson Politano
Mar- The Dowry of Miss Lydia Clark by Lawana Blackwell
April- Ashes on the Moor by Sarah M. Eden
May- Born of Gilded Mountains by Amanda Dykes
June- The Sisters of Sea View by Julie Klassen
July- A River Between Us by Jocelyn Green

Can you tell I've been on an historical kick? I would recommend any of these, except Lydia Clark, and that only because it's the last book in a 4 book series, so not a good place to start.

I think my favorite so far would be "Born of Gilded Mountains" which I luckily was able to get through the LT Early Reviewers program.

I have not read any of these authors but might check on them.
I agree on the Wow books. I have read two that I have won (one on GR and another on LT) and did not really care for either one. I hate to give a 3 star.

>2 tealadytoo: Thank you so much for the recommendations! I haven't read historicals for a while. I'll have to check some of these out.

>3 mnleona: I give quite a few three stars. I've gotten a lot more fussy.

>1 sdbookhound: I think I'm getting more particular, too. I don't think I gave anything five stars last year.

The best ones so far this year have been Simply the Best by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Funny Story by Emily Henry. I gave them each four stars.

Simply the Best is the tenth book in Phillips' Chicago Stars series. It was cute, and I liked it better than the nineth book in the series. The characters were much more relatable.

Funny Story was a cute stand alone. I'd never read one of Henry's books before, but I will certainly read more. I liked many of the characters in this one, and the plot was believable.

>6 Hope_H: Hello Hope! I also liked Funny Story. I have read all of Emily Henry's books.
