www.librarything.com | 524: A timeout occurred
I am only able to access LT on and off. I have been getting this message for several hours now and also yesterday while trying to access LT.
https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com also shows LT as down.
LT has been slow to load since the past week but the timeouts began yesterday.
The wiki site is fine though.

I got a Cloudflare error message a couple of times this morning, so I can confirm that it was down for a while. But if Cloudflare is giving a warning, that may imply a DOS attack. I don't know. If that's the case, they may have given up.

My talk listings show a period of over 17 hours with no messages in the groups I follow, and I couldn't enter a book. Definitely a problem, but it seems to be fine now.

Thanks for the note. It was all-the-way down this morning. It's mostly up now. We're working on it.

Thanks, Tim. Sorry you're stuck working on the weekend.

So it looks like we can solve this by taking a certain system offline until we can fix it for real on Monday. That system does a number of things, but the one users will notice is that it pushes a "needs indexing" notice every time you add, delete or edit a book. In other words, until tomorrow the indexing of new edits is going to be wonky. I'm going to start regular re-indexes of users who added a book since the last time I reindexed, but it's going to change the reindex time for seconds to perhaps an hour.

Thanks for the explanation. That always helps. Or at least makes me feel better about what's going on. :-)

Just FYI. I'll find it another way until the indexing is fixed :-)
