I love the idea of the automatic recommendations but I never use the feature because so many of the recommendations are just different editions of titles I already own. So the feature wastes too much of my time scanning through books I already own. Please, please, please add an option of "do not recommend titles I already own (regardless of edition)"!
I would also appreciate the same option as to member recommendations.

>1 tnilsson: That suggest that your copy has not been combined with rest of the editions, or alternatively the one recommended needs to be combined with the larger group. Different editions, including translations are a single work on LT, so if properly combined shouldn't be recommended.
If you have an example, it would be easier to check. If you need help combining your copies with the larger group, you can ask in combiners group.
Edit: As an example, I combined your Njal's Saga with the larger group. Before that, it would be possible to get a rec for the same work because they were separate.
Also wanted to add that even when everything is combined properly, it is possible to receive a rec for something you have in case of omnibuses and such. Say you have all 3 volumes of some series as a single work, you could get recs for those 3 individual books. Since work relationships indicate contains/is contained in relationships, a part of this RSI could be to leverage work relationships and NOT recommend something you have within one your books.

I would really appreciate if work relationships were used to avoid recommending material I already own which is present in a different work, for example, if I have The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay, work relationships would prevent me from being recommended Hunger Games Trilogy. If I have The Complete Works of Shakespeare, work relationships would prevent me from being recommended King Lear, Julius Caesar, etc.
I'm not sure if work relationships could be leveraged for this purpose, but I have several editions of classic works that have been simplified for a younger audience (work often lists the person who simplified the work as the primary author) and if I could somehow say, I have a copy of Huckleberry Finn, I have one simplified version, Great Illustrated Classics: Huckleberry Finn, I don't want any other simplified version adapted by other authors, even if it comes from the same publisher that I have other simplified versions of. (Although, if this was introduced, it may need to be the kind of feature an individual can turn on and off or adjust somehow? I have a simplified version of Frankenstein, but I'm still on the hunt for physical copy of the original. Hmm...)
