@timspalding (or whomever is concerned), I agree that the Auto Translator is a great improvement for multilingual LibraryThing, generally speaking, but for Swedish it's a degradation. It changes perfectly good translations to machine-translated quasi translations.

Can you turn it off for Swedish? Otherwise I'll have to abandon my long-standing project of keeping the Swedish interface in good shape and switch over to English. I can't stand looking at a badly translated interface.

Do you think it overwrote any? It should not have. Sometimes there are very similar items, though.

I see only 365 translations it's done. I am removing them for you.

Oh yeah, that's painful, the first thing I saw was the the Autotranslate telling people to

"Remember to save changes using the Save button."
"Mahara ki te penapena i ngā huringa mā te pātene Penapena."

when the human translation has used "Tiaki" for "Save" throughout the site, including "Tiakina" on the button in question.

I presume it's done similar things for all the not yet translated complicated sentences for how it is referring to reviews, works, links and tags.

So the autotranslate has actually replaced human translations in some places?

Yeah, this is rubbish, Pūtea is account, it comes from bag, it's used a lot for fees, funding. And it's replaced the word, Hautaka, I was using for Journal.

Thank you for this catch. One of the runs I made must have replaced some older translations. I'm working on a fix. Should be an hour or two.

I've figured out what word the autotranslate just uses when it just doesn't know a word - pātea! It means free or unencumbered, it's mostly used in sports, but Google Translate translates it as blank. And the autotranslate has been dropping it all over the place. A bit less obvious than when it just leaves the English word, or tries to transliterate it but doesn't use the Māori alphabet correctly.
