Found: Novel where protagonist kills his stupid friend at the end

Hi. I remember reading a novel as a kid (I guess around 2005-2010?) and I really don't remember much about it, other than what stuck with me which is the main character killing his dumb friend at the end (I guess it was means as a mercy LOL?).
