Remove the "Top From Language" section in the Zeitgeist page on TC and SC sites

On both Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese sites, the "Top From Language" section would never list a book because the books' language can only be set to Chinese. Therefore, I recommend removing the "Top From Language" section from the Zeitgeist page on both sites.

An alternative solution, which involves adding books' language options, seems unlikely to be implemented on the site.

Another alternative solution, which involves listing Chinese books on both sites, is unwelcome to me.

Maybe Piratical site needs this change, but currently it has one book listed.

First, let me explain the system.

The library MARC system uses one code for all Chinese—chi. Other data we get, like Amazon data, we also get as just "Chinese," which we turn into the MARC code too. None of our data tells us whether the books in question are in simplified or traditional versions of the Chinese script.

As far as the sites go, they too map to languages, except in the case of English, Portuguese and Chinese. Here we extend the code with a number—so chi1 and chi2.

The "Top from Language" is not about the site and its members. That's for "The Most Catalogued Books." Therefore in using "chi" for "Top from Language" we are giving the most common books in Chinese--whoever cataloged them from whatever site.

You wrote "Another alternative solution, which involves listing Chinese books on both sites, is unwelcome to me."

Unfortunately, I've gone ahead and done that. Can you tell me if it's really bad now?

Thank you for making this section work.

It's not a bad solution for now since most of the work is classic.

It's just that maybe one day Simplified Chinese books, such as Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung (currently ranked no.2), might dominate the list. It would be awkward to see them on Traditional Chinese site.

I'm not sure if this is the right time, place, occasion to bring this up. Due to the historical conflicts and ongoing political tensions between Taiwan (which uses Traditional Chinese) and mainland China, seeing Simplified Chinese characters and terms is uncomfortable for some people in Taiwan.
