Seeing as how quite a lot of folks have washed their hands of X / Twitter, and new sites that do what Twitter did are growing in popularity, could we get them added to our profiles? I'm thinking Mastodon, Bluesky, and Threads. One of the things that makes it hard for people to leave one social media site for another is that it's hard to regenerate your network in a new place. Every little thing that makes that easier, is a good thing!
BTW, there's another request in this group, from January, for Mastodon: https://www.librarything.com/topic/357851

>1 RoboSchro: Unfortunately, I already looked into Mastodon and unless we have a specific, generic URL we can format to (which Mastodon doesn't have, if I recall correctly) to link to a member profile we can't add it.
Do you have a sample for Bluesky and Threads I can work with?

All Fediverse accounts have a unique address that looks like this:
@ username @ server

>2 kristilabrie: Bluesky is: https://bsky.app/profile/librarything.bsky.social
That's https://bsky.app/profile/{USERNAME} (some users might be confused and and only add the first part of their username, but that's user-error and not on you, IMO)

>3 lesmel: The way things are currently set up, no. I'll try and see how difficult it would be to add another format, but this would be low priority, I think..

I added Bluesky and Mastodon; for Mastodon in order for the username to link properly, everything after "https://mstdn.social/" needs to be there, e.g., Tim's account would have to list "@librarythingtim@beta.birdsite.live"
It seems that even the beginning of the url is different for all the mastodon users? so I don't know if I can add that at all.

Does Bluesky have a better review sharing connection than that former place owned by the billionaire?

>7 knerd.knitter: I can still only see Twitter and Facebook on my profile apps links :(

I'm adding Mastodon back in, and it seems that the username should be something like "@ username@ url" (without spaces) which we'll parse into https ://url/@ username (without spaces)

>9 ScarletBea: This is adding to the Also On field only.

>9 ScarletBea: You go into settings to edit your profile, and you should see a button to Edit Also Ons.
Clicking on that allows you to click Add and the drop down will list the other options.

my profile, after a few attempts to add bluesky and mastodon seems to have an extra inclusion: a literal "@TimSharrock@spore.social"
Also On
Bluesky, BoardGameGeek, Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, @TimSharrock@spore.social, Mastodon

Verified. Checking.

My mistake. I had put it there to test but forgot to take it out. Give it a couple minutes and it should be gone.

Hurrah, it seems to work! (Tested for my own Mastodon and Bluesky accounts.) Thanks, @knerd.knitter !
