Hi and Happy 2025! I'm getting my 2025 lists started later this year than I would have liked, but the delays gave me time to ponder and plan my categories and books to read.

I recently joined LibraryThing and am trying to learn how to participate. I usually plan only a few books ahead. So far this year I have read Rooney’s My Beautiful World, Olive, Again, Toibin’s Brooklyn and I am presently reading Cusk’s The Last Supper. I am waiting for Scaffolding and Murakami’s Uncertain Walls.

>4 stefepaul: First of all...Welcome to the group. There is really no "right or wrong" way to participate. Everyone does whatever they feel comfortable with. Some of us organize our books yet to read and those we have already read by monthly posts and others by yearly reading logs.... some by both. Some people have been members here for years and never post anything. There are members of this and other groups that just "hang out" and read what others post...and that's alright also. We're not a real "chatty" group...we're too busy reading:) Reviews are always welcome but not everyone likes writing them and that is perfectly fine. We're easy folks to get along with and are always interested in what each other is reading. Any and all books are welcome, not just Mystery & Suspense. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask...otherwise just go with what you would like to do to catalogue or keep up with what you are reading. I do change some of the threads monthly but anything that you create with your name on it, I won't touch.

>5 Carol420: Well you can see I am new as it took me from Jan9th to today to find your welcome. Thank you. Is this a place to talk about how we are feeling about a read so far? Hope so. I just started The Door by Magda Szabo and am moving along slowly. I have a rule for myself of reading to page 50 before I decide if it feels like a me book. I have read so many books in my lifetime often forcing myself when I was uninterested. But at 68, I have given that up. I am sure I may miss some great stuff by stopping at 50 if I am not engaged but getting old changes some things. So all of that to say, I have 30 more pages to get to 50. I am not hooked yet.

>6 stefepaul: Well, that's progress...at least you did find it:) You can talk about it here, but most of us would look for that info on the "What Are We Reading and Reviewing" topic thread. There really isn't any "wrong" way to do things. Whatever you are comfortable with. Your "50-page rule" is a good one. Sometimes a book starts out slow and then picks up...It's good that you give it a chance. I'm always hesitant to criticize a book since my name hasn't appeared on any cover:) Of course, not everyone likes the same things. If we did there wouldn't be enough to go around. I check all the threads throughout the day, and I know other members do also, so we will find your comments. Just have fun.

>9 AnishaInkspill: You are more than welcome. Sometimes things are posted on more than one thread topic in the group. Just check them all for new things. They'll show up in blue for you if there is something new there that you haven't seen.
