Which proper chess book was your first chess book? How did you like reading it?

As for myself, Your First Move from Raduga Publishers was my first proper chess book. I enjoyed it immensely, and decades later, I am still loving it while teaching chess to my 11 year old - who has also read starting bits of it, though the complete book itself might be a tad advanced for him. Recommend it to all, though out of print now.
