I've continued to read a lot in February. Several things I've read are volumes of manga, but I'm way behind on my manga reading too, so I'm glad to read them.

Just checking in. We've had a busy few weeks here. We got a new roof so we could put solar panels on the roof. We just started making our own electricity last week and it's so cool!
I've also been getting my garden ready, but I haven't planted anything yet. Maybe I'll get some beans, peas, and carrots started tomorrow. I also had chamomile go to seed last year and ended up with 5 free chamomile plants this year and there are already flower buds on a few.
As for my challenge, I've almost met my goal for ebooks already. I bought a Kobo recently because my Sony Reader was starting to have some problems. The Kobo has a built-in light, which is really nice since my favorite time to read is at bedtime.

Wow, you have been busy, Q. Nice to generate your own electricity and own vegetables.
I love my Kobo too.

>8 connie53: Thanks. We haven't had an electricity bill since April. It was nice during the summer with three air conditioners running and it will be nice in the winter when we need a few space heaters for the rooms that the furnace doesn't heat properly.
As for my garden, it was semi-successful. We grew a few cucumbers, some basil, we have two free cherry tomato plants that have been doing well, my lavender plant did better than any other one I've ever grown (and I even harvested some seeds from it), and we tried growing strawberries for the first time and my daughter loves them. We also have two winter squash that we haven't harvested yet and so many potatoes!
My Kobo is so great! I don't know why I didn't buy one sooner. I got a clear shock-proof case for mine and sandwiched a few stickers between the Kobo and the case to customize it.
I have read so much this year. Also, my daughter is obsessed with the Warriors books by Erin Hunter. We just went to a used book sale today and she picked up three more of the books. She just finished the first book in the series last week and it's her first read without pictures. She's also reading the Warriors graphic novels.

Hi, Q. Lovely to read what you did with your garden. Growing your own fruit and vegetables sounds great and successful.
And your daughter having the same thing with books is very nice too. I love seeing Fiene, my eldest granddaughter, engrossed in her books. She spend some days with me during the summer and she and I spend an afternoon reading in the garden. She said to me "This is so chill, Nan."
I loved hearing that.

>10 connie53: Thanks, it was fun, aside from having to chase cats and squirrels out of my raised beds. LOL
That is so awesome! My daughter takes a book everywhere with her and she can read in the car, so she will shush us while she's reading. I'd like to do more quiet time reading together. Maybe when my spouse has a vacation at the end of the month, we can all do some reading together.
