Is there a way to alphabetize tags or a setting to turn on to alphabetize?
It looks like this was asked/answered long time ago, but I think tagging has changed since then and I’m not sure how to do it under the current system.
Thanks in advance.

The option to alphabetize tags went away in 2012 and it's never come back. Sorry! The only way to do it is, painstakingly, by hand.

>2 norabelle414: You can use a script to check the TSV export or some Excel formulas to check the XLS export, but that is just a way of finding any deviations. You still have to fix them by hand.

Not the individual book's tags, but you can alphabetize all of your tags, if that's what you meant. If you click on 'tags' when viewing your catalogue, it lists all of them and you can sort them alphabetically or by count (as well as edit them across the board and moving to collections based on a tag)

>5 SandraArdnas: Thanks for the reminder of that feature. It made me merge a couple of tags with a count of 1.

>5 SandraArdnas: Alphabetizing tags only works in LibraryThing, but not TinyCat. Is that correct?

>7 CFBC: Tag cloud from all members is alphabetized by default, but now there's an option 'text' if you click 'more tags' below it or 'classification' in the left sidebar and it presents them as a list ordered by number of uses. Personal tags can be ordered alphabetically or by number of uses on your tag page in catalogue. Not sure what you're after, but if it is to alphabetize your tags for individual works, perhaps you could try requesting the feature since now is the time developers are working on work pages. If possible, it should transfer to TinyCat since it shows those tags in the order in which they are on LT.

>8 SandraArdnas: I may be confusing things from a lack of knowledge of LT and TinyCat. I see the way to alphabetize in LT but I want to alphabetize in TinyCat. We have links on our home page to numerous categories, for example fiction. If someone clicks on Adult fiction we wanted to use the tags on the right as a way to reference different genre, which will become a pretty long list once we are done. Currently TinyCat displays the tags based on the quantity of each, and we though an alpabetical list would be preferable. This is a minor thing, so it's not important.

>9 CFBC: There is not a way to alphabetize tags in LibraryThing. The tags in TinyCat show up in the same order as they are entered in LibraryThing, so if you want them to be in alphabetical order you will need to edit them that way manually.

>10 norabelle414: The tags on a particular record show up in the order they're entered, in the Tags field, yes. I think @CFBC is referring to the Tags Search Facet on the right-hand side of search pages. Those are ordered by quantity, I believe, and the order of each Search Facet cannot be altered I'm afraid.
