UI: changing a cover

Hello,

The cover-changing feature is great, but it shouldn't take three clicks just to change a cover. One click is all that's needed, with a confirmation message only if the ISBN will be changed.

A confirmation click before deleting a work is expected, naturally. Two confirmation clicks before changing a cover - that seems like overkill.

Thanks,

David

I just tested it out, and I'm pretty sure this is an accessibility thing for people with twitchy click fingers. It's too easy to accidentally click on a cover as you're scrolling and accidentally change it when your think you're dismissing the pop-up.

Also, the first "choose cover?" switch stays selected even if you scroll. That's kind of nice when i think I've found a good match among 200 but want to check a few more! Or if you've accidentally clicked it, it doesn't take over the page.

Very nice accessibility feature, Chris & team!

I'm making a case to get rid of that confirmation step.
We have the confirmation there because that "Choose Cover" was once handled by a mouse-over hover, so it was easy to click on it by mistake because it appeared under your mouse before you clicked on the cover in question.

Since that time I've made the first step be a click so I don't think we need the confirmation.

Oh, darn, I liked that behavior! I could see myself using it with a mouse on desktop, too. Alas, not everything is designed for me. :D

An accessibility enabler would be an easy-to-use keyboard equivalent, rather than tripled opportunities to commit a cover error. So a single click seems like a good compromise between accidental change and burdensome extra steps for a majority of users. (Again, one exception might be a warning for changing an ISBN.)

>5 northern_reader: Yes, it seems i misunderstood where the problem lay. I thought it was in the new on-click highlight being added to the workflow, rather than the extra confirmation after that. Since the extra confirmation will be going away, but the new on-click highlight remaining, I think we'll both be happy. :)

That sounds like 50% progress - thanks much.
