Is there anything in the works to individualize recommendations based on how individual users have rated books (a la Netflix)? I would love to get recommendations that consider whether I actually liked or loved (or not) the titles in my library.

Also, it would be great to be able to tell the Recommendations List that I'm not interested in THIS title, please recommend another. (For instance, I loved the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, but I don't want to read 15 books on autism.)

Unfortunately, there isn't any way of customizing recommendations -- though I agree that there should be. My own suggestions have included adjusting how much weight books are given based on tags (that is, allow users to tell the system that books with a particular tag should count more or less than usual), as well as allowing ratings-based adjustments (anything below one user-set limit is not considered, anything above another user-set limit is considered extra).

That said, the recommendations have bigger problems at the moment. Many people have reported that no matter what sort of recommendations they seek, they only are given the similarly-tagged list. Befoee that, recommendations from the "Use tags" drop-down menu gave us recommendations for our whole library -- and I don't think that's been fixed, either. Either way, custom recommendations would be neat, but The Staff have bigger bugs to swat.
