Researching a book

I bought a children's book in a charity shop gor less than a pound. It is not a particularly pretty book but i thought it was unusual. Its from the 1980s so not too old. When I got home I looked it uo and all i could find is a couple of copies on sales for unexplained higher prices. No information on the book itself.
My questions are: how do I learn more about the book and why is it pricey?.seems random

Letting us all know the title, author and publisher would be a good start.

It’s a colouring in book. Author name is Danuta Bolintineanu. published in 1984 , adapted from Romanian. Published by Brown watson

Sometimes reprints are made of older books and then mass produced. What you purchased may be one of these copies and what you are finding online may be prices for the original copy, that might be rare.

That would make sense but i still can’t get any information about the book or author . And the seller dates it at 1984, so not that old

>5 SEltawil: If your book is "The Elves Build a Castle", it was, as you noted, published in Leicester, UK by Brown Watson, but printed in Romania. Danuta Bolintineanu translated it from the Romanian, but I cannot find anything on that person.

I have no idea why it is priced so insanely high, as no seller makes any attempt to justify the price.

Here's a link to a 1984 Romanian edition at a much lower price.

>6 Glacierman: Thanks. That’s the one. Even this is still very pricey for no reason. I bought it with a bunch of other books for 2 pounds.. Nothing about it suggests this price.

>8 lilithcat: This is the book I have. I have seen a range of prices, but no information about author or illustrator. Range if price fairly wide and mostly unjustified. How di i get to know more about the author, illustrator or why this particular Romanian book was translated and printed in UK. I have not read it yet

>9 SEltawil: I did a preliminary quick search on the persons involved, and learned a bit about Danuta Bolintineanu (assuming there's only one such person). She lived in Toronto, Ontario, in 2013, works at Green & Spiegel as a senior Immigration Manager, based out of their Philadelphia, PA office so I guess she moved to the US later, is/was married to Constantin Bolintineau who apparently works for a Romanian financial firm based in Bucharest. They have a son, Dan, who married Kate Meier of Waunakee, WI, in 2013. LinkedIn shows her still in Toronto, so..... That's about all I could find in a quick search.

Oh, she also translated another book, A Year in the Life of Storks, published in in Romania in 1981.

>10 Glacierman: Thats the best information I got so far, but I am inclined to think this is more than one person. Did not think of searching linkdin
