Checking on the genetic condition of a new-to-me blogger's kid earlier today, the pictures that came up looked a lot like these guys, esp. the one in the center with the red tunic. But normal ears.

I'd make a joke about the well-known 8 dwarfs (sleepy, spacey, snooty, sodomy, no-face, etc.) but this is a Craig Shaw Gardner novel, so that is a joke which already exists in the book.
