I remember reading in the 1990s a book where a female main character time travels. I distinctly remember her having a discussion with a family about bread. I believe she traveled to the 19th century and talked with them about how much more substantial grainy breads are than Wonder Bread (although she did not call it that, that is what she meant).

At first I thought it might be one of Caroline B. Cooney's series starting with Both Sides of Time, but I just flipped through my copies and didn't find a match for this scene. Going to keep looking.

Perhaps in the scene they were discussing the heartiness of artisan-type breads. I believe it was time travel back to the 1800s.

Maybe just possibly Fog Magic by Julia L Sauer? There might be a part where bread is being eaten or discussed.
This might be a long shot. I think the girl in that book goes back to the 1700’s.

It seems to me like the girl traveled back in time and was taken by a couple who lived in a farmhouse.

Touchstones The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen

Thanks for letting us know. So many people find the book somewhere else, but never come back and tell us.
